Men's Health Week at the Hibiscus Men's Shed

Men's Health Week at the Hibiscus Men's Shed

One of the primary reasons all Men's Sheds around the world exist, is to support Men's mental and physical health, especially when they reach retirement age. The Hibiscus Men's Shed had the honour of hosting the kickoff of Men's Health Week in NZ recently. During the event a report, funded by the Selwyn Foundation was launched, showing the results of research into the effect of the health and wellbeing of Men's Sheds on their members in New Zealand. Well known TV and Radio personality, as well as Co-Director and Ambassador of Men's Health Week, Mark Sainsbury, led the members in completing the questionnaire aptly named "What's My Score" (Download Here), while we also had Elise Moller from the NZ Stroke Foundation performing blood pressure and heart rhythm tests. A great event for all. In the picture below are Geoff Leigh (Chairman of the Hibiscus Men's Shed Trust), Mark Sainsbury, David Broadhead (Chairman of Menzshed NZ) and Tim Greene (Co-Director of Men's Health Week). Also pictured is Kevin Hayne, one of many members who had their blood pressure tested.
